BUT, INDEED....

She asked me about the dream I had last night, dear reader, so I told her:

I don't remember how it started, but the alien mother-ships landed and --

Wait. Alien mother-ships? she asked.

Yes. Don't worry. It will all make sense in the end, I continued. Like I said, the alien mother-ships landed. I never actually saw the aliens, but -- true to their word -- they did come in peace.

That's a relief, she said.

Quiet, you. For our amusement, they projected onto our night skies... visions... animated images of other planets, other species, and other places; blue-tinted sunsets on frozen moons, ringed superplanets in odd purplish hues, steamy oceans of dark liquid filled with schools of 747-sized eyeless slug-caterpillar creatures, and herds of ten-legged giraffe/spider things which galloped and crawled under the shadows of giant purple trees that moved like sea anemone. Among other things.

Other things?

Yep, things I just can't describe. But anyway, that's not the best part. This is the best part: as a gift, of sorts, the aliens decided to throw a big party before they left. They really enjoyed art and music, in fact they made a point to tell us that of all the planets they had been to, only Earth had music, art, and song. They were fascinated by this and wanted to show their appreciation by doing something really spectacular.

So they had this big party, and they filled the night sky with fireworks and purple-pink lightning. It went on for hours.

And this is the best part?, she asked.

Not exactly. It's coming, just wait. So the fireworks and lightning ends and the aliens decide -- to show their appreciation -- that it would be wonderful to turn all of Earth's musicians and artists into PURE CONSCIOUSNESS. That way they could float or drift around and share their gifts telepathically, or whatever they had in mind. The aliens did this and then POOF they all left in their ships.

Mmm-hmm. But?

But, indeed. The aliens didn't really have a firm understanding of human anatomy or human consciousness, so all of earth's artists and musicians were turned into babies who floated around in these weird little purple bubbles. And as they floated by, you could hear what they were thinking...

That's pretty messed up, Thothy.

I KNOW, right? I mean, there was this one group of people who were bouncing Bubble Baby Lady Gaga around like a beach ball, but she didn't seem to mind. I think. I had been attending an impromptu Foo Fighters concert at the time. Floating Baby Dave Grohl was impressed by the aliens, but was a little sad that he wouldn't be able to share his experience through music for another 10 or 15 years.

Okay. That's really messed up. Then what happened? she asked.

I don't know. I woke up and got dressed. I hope things work out for the Floating Baby Foo Fighters.

You are such a tard.

THE END.

For the first entry I have seen from you in a long time, this one certainly takes the cake.

I wonder what the aliens thought of cake?
